ENCORE: Coat of Ash - Videos for Change

On our first visit to Australia for the podcast, I meet Charlotte, a young filmmaker and changemaker who is having an impact through her media work. Her short film, Coat of Ash, won multiple awards and accolades at the 2021 High Resolves Videos for Change global competition including Best Video from the Australia/Oceania region, runner up for Best Global Film and the McCall MacBain Climate Action Award. The film examines the tragic bushfires in 2019-2020 that raged across Australia through the eyes of a family of koalas, a species heavily impacted by the fires. Charlotte discusses feeling devastated by the impact of the fires and felt that she needed to take action to raise awareness and prevent this from happening again. She accomplished this through her film which has been viewed across the globe. How might we engage our talents and passions to take action through media for a cause we care about?
